Editorial Policy

FundVersus publishes facts from SEC filings and a small number of clearly labeled computations. This policy covers what that means in practice.

Facts, not advice

FundVersus does not tell readers what to buy, sell or hold, and does not rate funds or stocks as good or bad. Comparison pages say which fund costs less, holds more or returned more over a stated period, and stop there. Whether any of that matters depends on the reader.

Every figure has a source

Each page lists the filings its figures come from, with links to EDGAR. When a filing does not report a value, the page says so instead of estimating it.

Generated text

Comparison and profile pages use sentence templates filled with data. No figure on these pages is written by hand or by a language model. Research articles are drafted with help from AI tools, checked against the dataset, and approved by the editor before publication. Their figures come from the FundVersus dataset and the filings it cites.

Independence

No fund company, broker or advertiser can pay to change a ranking, a category, a comparison or an article. If FundVersus runs advertising or sponsorships, they will be labeled, kept out of data tables and summaries, and listed on an advertising page.

Corrections

Errors are fixed in the next data release or sooner, and material corrections are dated on the corrections page. To report an error, use the contact page and include the page and the filing that shows the correct figure.
